NMC sends show cause notice to 50% of medical colleges for violation of standards

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a show cause notice to 349 medical colleges for standards violation. Reports indicate that around 50 percent of medical colleges in India are at risk of losing recognition.

Approximately half of the medical colleges have reportedly received show cause notices from the National Medical Commission (NMC) for non-compliance with the established standards. Reports suggest that approximately 50 percent of medical colleges in India are at risk of losing recognition due to their failure to adhere to the standards set by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

A total of 349 medical colleges, comprising 197 government-aided institutions and various private ones, have been served with show cause notices.

A show cause notice has been issued by the NMC to a medical college in Idukki, Kerala, following the discovery of deficiencies in attendance and a failure to meet the required faculty standards outlined in the Minimum Standard Requirements 2020, according to sources.

“If colleges will not rectify the error then admission in these colleges will be kept on hold for one year,” , sources told ANI.
